  HUARI
A.D. 600-A.D. 900

he ceremonial and political center of Huari was located near the modern city of Ayacucho in Peru. Huari textiles and ceramics reached unsurpassable levels of excellence. Huari imported TiwanakuÆs God of the Gate but changed him from a solar deity to an agrarian fertility deity. Unlike TiwanakuÆs large public display of religion, Huari religious ceremony took place in smaller, more private groups. This reflects Huari emphasis on breaking society into smaller, more manageable units.
